Pros

If the project you are working in is in development, life is exciting as you have some creative process involved. I was a member of a very small testing team, so even as a new employee, I had to work as if I was a veteran. This is rewarding in the sense that you get treated with respect and gain experience rapidly.

Cons

No sense of work-life balance.

Especially if you're in an undermanned, poorly managed project. Expect to work 16-hour days, work on weekends, national holidays, etc.

We had an internal running bet on who would work the longest stretch of days. When I left, it was around 28 days.

Advice to Management

Utilize bench strength to man projects properly.

Knowledge transfer sessions are not taken seriously by employees at all.
