Staff Engineer Interview Experience - Vaughan, Canada

Process

The hiring process was all over the place.

I spoke to a director who claimed they were looking for staff engineers.

When the recruiter sent the invite, it was for a lower-level position.

After getting them to check if they really had a staff position or not, I was told yes. Finally, I was rejected for not having such an opening.

That was four hours wasted.

Questions

Behavioral questions and some coding questions that are expected to be run and tested out.

These are not LeetCode-style questions designed for 45-minute time intervals, which the rest of the industry follows.

Wish I had known this earlier.
