As a consultant for years, I naturally worked on shorter-term contracts with higher pay in the Asia-Pacific region. This has been my industry practice for 15 years. I leveled my paycheck to be in the top 10% of my peers and leveraged my international experience, references from CEOs, high-profile CTOs, and so on.

He specifically noted, in very precise words, that I stayed for too short a period. Sarcastic HR personnel do not understand the consulting industry. We work remotely and give up the dream of staying with a company for a decade. The role he was hiring for was not for a decade and certainly not even for four years. I served as a lead for multiple years with some companies.

Overall, stay away from lousy HR. They cannot afford your rate. Work for UK-based companies, Australians, etc.
