I used to be an employee at Agoda but was laid off due to "covid." A couple of weeks later, I noticed they were hiring again, which was surprising.

Why lay off 1500 people then if you need to hire again?

Long story short, I applied for a backend role and was contacted a few days later for a Software Engineer in Test role. I replied, stating I had not applied for that position but for a backend role. They admitted they had made a mistake, apologized, and then said the hiring manager still thought I was a good fit for the role, given my development background.

I had some doubts but decided to move forward.

I was then invited to two live coding interviews, and finally, to the onsite interviews where I met with three people: one senior QA and two managers. They all went well, especially the interviews with the managers.

However, I do not come from a testing background, and I mentioned this to my interviewers. They all claimed it was not a requirement.

Fifteen days after my final interview, I received a general rejection email stating they had moved forward with different candidates. I do not understand why it took them 15 days to respond.

I had two job offers during that period but decided to wait for Agoda's decision.

This is my personal opinion: I also don't understand why I had to undergo all rounds of interviews again. I was their employee less than a year ago. I guess it just speaks to their fake culture.
