Pros: Work remotely with good engineering support and setups to build.

Cons: Too much communication. I know what I am talking about. It is rare that communication can be too much, but here it is. Part of the reason is working fully remotely, which is reasonable. But the other part is that there are too many opinions from product management. And the permissions from engineering teams are limited to what's planned, what's committed, and what's the process of approvals allowed. A technology company led by product/experience design means things are running on product/design taste and unverified hypotheses a lot. Eval-driven is new to the company, and it is still far away from rooting in the culture.

Pros: - Great benefits and work-life balance. - Good hiring bar. - Friendly co-workers. - Relatively little office politics.

Cons: They love promoting their work culture and think it's absolutely amazing. It's great if you fall very much to the left of the political spectrum, like the rest of the company (and SF). But if you happen to have a couple of right-wing sympathies like me, such as expressing your admiration for Ben Carson in a team lunch, you will be met with frowns and disdain. I overheard an argument where a co-worker said he opposed universal income, and everyone around him started to argue with him. I'm pretty sure if you said you liked Trump in any way, you'd be out of the building with all your possessions in a box. Also, the co-founders are infallible and worshipped by everyone on the team. Their "Is Mankind" campaign was a terrible, "Emperor's New Clothes"-esque flop, but no one dared to correct them.

Pros: Airbnb creates an amazing workplace culture. This permeates the social aspects of the company, making it enjoyable to have lunch, a drink, or just pass by other people in the building. It also permeates the technical aspects. I have great respect for the other engineers and enjoy working with and learning from them every day.

Cons: Management, structure, and processes are still changing rapidly as the company grows. This can add distraction to the workplace, but also adds excitement.
