Pros: Some very smart co-workers, fascinating work. Our products make the Internet run. Easy access to upper management. At Akamai, you get to learn about how the Internet works and about how other companies use the Internet. Awesome work-life balance, and the people here are wonderful - nice people with families. Great diversity here too. There are people with PhDs in physics, math, and computer science, even neurobiology. Not just code monkeys.

Cons: Compensation is not competitive with Facebook/Google; the company is at an awkward size. We're not a startup, and though we try to recruit the same people who go to Facebook & Google, we don't have the cash to compete with those giants. Documentation on internal technologies can be hard to find.

Pros: Good work-life balance, good culture and benefits. Very nice coworkers.

Cons: Promotion is hard for some teams.
