Pros
  • Okay work-life balance.
  • At least on my team, great colleagues and people to learn from.
Cons
  • No 401k match for the first year.
  • High deductibles and out-of-pocket pay for medical.
  • Forces you to be in the office, even if job functionalities do not require it.
  • Outdated mindset, with many people in senior positions in their 50s or higher.
  • So many contractors.
  • Competitive compensation, but only against smaller banks. About 20-50k lower compared to bigger banks.
Advice to Management

For an online bank, you should allow employees to be able to work remotely if the job doesn't require it. We are able to save on commute time and be much more productive. It feels like the only reason we are in the office is so management can show off and force us to be part of Ally's culture.
