One of my worst jobs ever

Software Development Engineer II
Former Employee
Worked at Amazon for 2 years
May 29, 2020
Santa Clara, California
1.0
Doesn't RecommendNeutral Outlook
Pros

The pay was good. The stock is on fire.

Cons

I've never been so micromanaged in my life. Not all former engineers make good people managers.

I exited the company while in the Pivot program, and the program is set up so that you will leave "voluntarily" so that you cannot get unemployment, although it is 100% not voluntary. They have a lot of policies of this nature to try to get around spending money on employees.

Diversity is non-existent on certain teams.

Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging. Let your smart people tell you what to do instead of telling them what to do.
