Pros

The motto and other senior employees emphasize not working after office hours.

Cons

The work is never completed if you work only within office hours. You will have to push extra every day in order to deliver your target on time. The expectation from a newly hired is as much as from an SDE II, with no breathing space to understand the work and other work-related stuff.

Advice to Management

At least, if expectations are high, then the management needs to work on the three-month training period to give real training opportunities where employees get enough learning and teaching guidance so as to understand and fulfill the SDE I role guidelines. And a little bit of job security by not pushing them hard and scaring them with review sessions and PIP-kind of things, because productivity and learning capacity decrease when an employee is under that threat.
