Pros
  • Stable payroll.
  • Company has great perspective.
  • Stock keeps growing.
  • You will work with the biggest companies as your customers.
  • Free access to some learning resources (A Cloud Guru, Linux Academy, etc.).
  • Phone compensation up to $50/month.
  • Uber/Lyft compensation up to $170/month.
Cons
  • Noisy on-call.
  • Promotion process is weird. It doesn't matter what you did or how, but how many people you showed your face to.
  • Internal tools are terrible. You will have to rely on unreliable toolboxes. 99% availability for internal services? Not even close.
  • Managers and engineers all try to push new services to get promotion. As a result, there are a lot of services doing basically the same thing and a lack of integration between them.
  • Leadership principles are something that works only for interviews and the promotion process. Once you join, you will not see any of these in your colleagues. People are too tied up doing firefighting every day.
