I applied online at AMD's website for many co-op positions. A recruiter emailed me in mid-June and set up a phone interview.

I was on speakerphone with two interviewers. I had done extensive research on the company, and I believe they were impressed by my knowledge of their products.

Pros: Brilliant coworkers. Excellent work-life balance. Onsite gym. Location is very nice, on top of the hills. Opportunity to get a full-time offer. AMD interns usually get a greater amount of responsibilities compared to other companies, which eventually improves their skillset.

Cons: The company was not doing well for the last few years, but now things have started to change. There are very few perks, but that's okay since they were not profitable for some time.

Cons: Feeling of inability to follow through from up top. A lot of really smart people here, just uncertain they are being utilized properly from a business standpoint.

Pros: Great opportunities to learn. Very open among groups, with sharing of ideas and supporting each other across teams.

Cons: Feeling of inability to follow through from up top. A lot of really smart people here, just uncertain they are being utilized properly from a business standpoint.

Pros: Money. They pay well, that is about it. The campus is beautiful, and the people are friendly from a personal standpoint, but the organization is terrible.

Cons: The internal workings of AMD are a complete mess. The management does not know what they are doing and treats the employees very poorly. Extremely intelligent people are denied the promotions and raises that they deserve. Those that get them generally do so by brown-nosing management.
