Recognition is not given to employees doing the job right the first time but is given to those who fix problems they created themselves in the first place. Your career assessment is predetermined by your manager; your self-assessment is merely a formality. An unfair bell curve assessment guarantees someone gets the bottom 10% ranking, even though your team is considered a high performer among the BU. There are more and more middle managers than actual engineers.

Advice to Management

Giving too much credit to yappers while sidelining engineers who actually do the job. We don’t need more middle managers who yap all day; we need more execution.
