Pros
  1. Very easy work if you are a skilled developer.
  2. Hybrid work schedule (2 days remote, 3 days in office).
  3. Flight benefits are nice if you are someone who likes to travel.
  4. Very friendly, helpful atmosphere from many other developers.
Cons
  1. Pay is not bad, but it leaves something to be desired.
  2. There is a very heavy reliance on contractors, especially H1B visa contractors.
  3. 24/7 product support is expected from all teams. This can make disconnecting from work difficult.
  4. The IT side is in the process of simultaneously shrinking in size while growing in responsibility and expectations.
  5. Management, especially upper management and new C-level people, are very corporate. You will get thrown under the bus if needed without any hesitation.
Advice to Management

There is a reason why so many senior developers have left, and why so many junior developers jump ship as soon as they can.

At this current trajectory, you will be left with an IT workforce that is almost exclusively from H1B visa contract farms and people who graduated near the bottom of their CS programs in college.

Talent and productivity are not rewarded.
