I interviewed with one of the OS platform teams for a Sr. Developer role. A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn, as I had experience in the domain.
After a few back-and-forth emails with the recruiter, I had a call with him where we discussed my experience and projects.
He then set up a call with the hiring manager, who asked more in-depth questions related to my domain. The questions were not very difficult.
Subsequently, he informed me they wanted to fly me down to Cupertino for an on-site interview, which would take approximately half a day.
I went to Cupertino, where I had:
Most of the technical questions involved coding and were problems related to my domain, not the usual DS/algorithm questions. I answered all of them. There were also some leadership questions included.
I answered all of them. I observed the interviewers nodding, saying things like, 'Good job!' and 'When you join our team, you should do X...'
I received very positive vibes from the interviews. I finished around 3 p.m. and then met the recruiter, who told me they needed me to fly in for another interview with their director. I agreed and went home.
I kept checking my phone, but I received no calls or emails. After four days, I emailed the recruiter. I then received an email stating that the team was interviewing other candidates who were more suitable for the role.
Overall, it was an okay experience. However, I am disappointed because I performed well, received consistently positive feedback, and then... nothing.
The good thing is that they reimbursed my expenses quite quickly.
