Software developer Interview Experience - Veldhoven, Netherlands

Process

The procedure involves three rounds of interviews. (The last one is about HR and terms, so actually two.)

For the first round, I had three one-on-one interviews, with a recruiter and two (random) team leaders from the department where you hope to work. All interviews were informal (relaxed) and also involved information from their side (almost half the time).

The recruiter was very friendly and helpful, and mainly asked general questions about myself.

The technicians were very interested in my motivation and my background/specializations, without going into details. Although in a friendly style, some questions were very annoying and arrogant, such as "you spent 6 months on an internship, for just this?" or "I bet you would say the same things at another department / another company". They seemed to expect someone who would passionately want to dazzle them and show that this would be the dream job for him. With a large part of the time (3 hours) still to go, they occasionally seemed a bit bored, waiting for the time to be up.

I did not proceed to the next round, with the feedback (in a personal phone call) that I was too specialized in telecommunications and they had many doubts whether I was the right person, because they had other computer technicians who were more specialized in software.
