Pros

Remuneration is adequate or even above average for the industry and location (Netherlands). This is essentially the only positive aspect that I can think of.

Cons

Work culture is chaotic and outright toxic. Specialization and project ownership are virtually non-existent. Everybody is expected to do anything and everything, regardless of the role they were hired for. I was hired as a C++ software engineer but ended up writing mostly C and Python code and doing monkey testing. This was totally not what I signed up for and totally not how they presented the job during the interview process. Not to mention the fact that management has the tendency to toss people around like pawns, reassigning them to a new team or project at their pleasure, without consulting with the employee. They have a lot of expectations but are not willing to invest in trainings or even assign a mentor to new employees. They just throw you in at the deep end and expect you to figure everything out on your own.

Advice to Management

Present potential employees with a truthful description of their future role during the employment process.

Invest in people once they are hired.

Try to break projects down and offer people the chance to specialize instead of forcing them to become jacks of all trades.
