Multiple rounds. For each round, you're progressively getting deeper into the title and show your knowledge on the topic or role at hand. Be able to talk about prior projects.

Slow pace between different rounds of interviews, weeks even. Ultimately, I received an offer, but I had already signed with another job by then. The process was otherwise mindful and also appropriate for the role.

Initial phone interview with a company rep. Very laid back, and the rep seemed generally interested in what I had to say. Technical in the sense that they asked about projects on my resume, but there were no very technical questions.
