Pros

When I joined, it used to be great, working with the newest technology at the time (EJB, J2EE, Java was fairly recent). Even a pension plan. Even stock options. Stock was 60 USD per share.

Cons

Then, little by little, the company started withdrawing benefits. The CEOs started going on buying sprees, taking over other companies, most notably Cingular Wireless, Direct TV, and Time Warner. There was also a failed acquisition of T-Mobile.

Options expired worthless. They stopped contributions to the pension cash balance plan.

To top it off, they outsourced thousands of employees to different consulting companies to avoid paying full pension in retirement, including yours truly. Now the stock price is in the low 20s.

The technology they used was worthless if you wanted to get a job somewhere else since it was a homegrown framework called m2e (model to execution).
