The reason I work for AT&T is because it is one of the most important companies out there in connecting lives. There are a lot of good companies that make society better, and AT&T is one of them, laying down the infrastructure for services and phones to reach the customers.
It is a company that isn't afraid to take risks. DTV & Warner were financial hits, but it changed the landscape of streaming for better or worse.
In the end, the work I do has a greater impact on more people than if I worked for most other technology companies.
AT&T is trying to be a cutting-edge technology company, but has a legacy network to maintain that most other companies don't. It is a double-edged sword to maintain yet still innovate. As long as legacy networks are required by state and federal laws, it is a balancing act that will hit the bottom line and stock prices.
Compensate older employees to keep them around. We're losing more knowledge faster than we can replace it, and the younger generation is only sticking around for 2-3 years before they want to job hop. We're losing too much talent, which is putting a strain on current employees.
I was reached out to by an HR professional who was very nice to work with. They set up a call between us that progressed into speaking with the hiring manager. Once I spoke with them, it was mutually determined that this wouldn't be a fit.
The interview was very straightforward. There were a total of three rounds: the first technical, the second technical, and the final HR round. The questions were very specific to the job role. In short, the interview was average.
Very high efficiency and straightforward.
