I spoke with a recruiter and had a tech screen, followed by an onsite interview. The onsite was not a great experience. It felt more like a Frontend Developer interview than a Frontend Engineer interview.
There were four interviews during the onsite, and each one felt more awkward than the last. At one point, the manager accused me of reading off of a script or notes. This made me feel disingenuous and uncomfortable.
There were no algorithm or LeetCode questions asked; it was all straightforward ES5 JavaScript questions. During an implementation task, I mentioned that I wanted to use a while loop, but the interviewer stated that was incorrect and that recursion had to be used for the problem. At the end, the interviewer muttered that my implementation was completely wrong. When I mentioned that I heard him, he denied saying anything.
The entire process made me feel terrible, and I would not recommend this onsite process. The recruiter and tech screen interviewer were great, but I did not get a friendly sense from the team.
