Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Australia
Process
Sadly, this was a very lengthy process. It started with a call with a recruiter, which was followed by a technical screening with a third party. Once the screening was cleared, they set up a JavaScript browser and system design interview.
Once all technical interviews were done, there was a values and manager interview. This is when things started getting strange. Even though I was rated P50 by the technical interviews, after the manager round, my rating was downgraded to P40. Sadly, this has happened twice to me. It seems Atlassian will always find some reason not to hire a P50 candidate.
The recruiter mentioned that I didn't bring up scaling during my manager interview. I am 101% confident that I did, because the example I gave was a project specifically for addressing scaling. Sadly, I don't understand why the manager thought I hadn't discussed scaling, when I literally mentioned the word "scaling" several times during the interview.
