Ghosted by a recruiter after 5 rounds of interviews which lasted over 5 weeks.
Atlassian doesn't hire for a particular position. You go through the interviews, and they place you in a team based on the outcome. But that means you have to wait 3 rounds before you get to know.
Most engineering roles have 5 rounds:
The 2 coding interviews are LeetCode-style interviews, which, in my opinion, is the worst way to evaluate a candidate as it has nothing to do with the work you will be doing. Worse, they use this to level you.
So if you apply for a Principal role and you did just okay in the two rounds, they will level you down to a Senior.
The overall interview process took over 5 weeks. It is an extremely long process. Make sure you are ready for this.
You need to grind LeetCode questions to ensure you are not leveled down. If you are not a fan of LeetCode-style interviews, don't apply. If you are not a fan of long interviews, don't apply.
So I went through all 5 rounds, including their values interview and manager interview, and then... radio silence.
I emailed both interviewers over 4 times asking for an update, and there was no reply. It was the most disheartening interview experience of my career. To clear 5 interviews and not even get a reply.
And they make a song and dance about their values. I guess it doesn't apply to their recruitment team.
If you want to go through a long, arduous interview process with no guarantee that you will hear back from them, then this is the company for you.
Check Blind; you will see that this is a very common thing they do to candidates.
