Applied online on April 3rd; the process finished on July 8th.

The reason it took so long was that I intentionally asked for more time between rounds, as I applied for a full-stack role while working as a frontend developer (studying backend stuff after the day job, though).

I sincerely appreciate the recruiter from the Sydney office, who spent tons of time explaining things to me via phone calls and emails. They provided a lot of context and clarification, offering the best experience I've ever had!

The engineers who conducted the technical interviews were super knowledgeable. For example, they pointed out that leveraging another data structure would be more suited for the task. They also identified an issue with cross-browser communication in my code during the interview (impressive) and demonstrated in-depth knowledge around testing.

After the tech interviews, there were a culture interview and team matches. The culture interview focused on whether my personal values fit Atlassian's core values. I'm fond of Atlassian's values, especially openness, so I gave examples to back my arguments without much preparation. However, I failed both team matches: one because I didn't have enough technical expertise in Node.js, and the other because I lacked sufficient soft skills, both of which were reasonable.

With the help of the recruiter (thanks again!), another team match interview was conducted a week later. A hiring manager and a principal engineer asked me questions about my experiences and explained what their team does. The hiring manager even arranged for me to talk with an engineer in the squad for 30 minutes to help me gain more context (impressive)!

I was happy with the offer, as the compensation exceeded my expectations. More importantly, the work I could do was interesting to me.

However, due to a personal reason, I cannot accept the offer and will continue working at my current job.

I will definitively recommend Atlassian to people who are interested in new opportunities!
