Software Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

The interview process started with a phone call with the recruiter.

The next round was a technical interview with Karat. You could opt in for a redo if you felt you did not perform well.

I took the Karat interview and did not feel I performed to the best of my abilities, so I took the redo.

In the redo, I got through all of the questions correctly and explained my thought process thoroughly. The recruiter came back and said that although the redo went really well, they decided not to move me forward due to my performance in the first Karat interview. So why have the option for a redo?

Questions

For the system design portion, they asked me to think about how I would design a system for a social media company.
