Process

Waste of time...

Applied online and took at least 2 assessments. Got a call about 3 weeks later asking to do an interview with the Operations Manager. Went in to do that interview. He was nice, but told me over and over again that he was tired of doing interviews and the interview only lasted about 10 minutes. I asked him when I would hear back and he said the next day. Next day comes and goes and I hear nothing.

I called the store the next day and asked for him and he said, "Well, you were my favorite, but I'm waiting for the general manager's blessing." Within about 5 minutes of that call, I got an e-mail and phone call back to set up another interview with the general manager. This is for an entry-level position, by the way. I actually had a doctor's appointment the day they wanted to do the interview, but the store manager was being very inflexible. She wanted the interview at 12 PM and my doctor's appointment was at 11:45 AM, almost 30 minutes away. So, since I really need a job, I rescheduled my doctor's appointment to the next day to go to the interview.

I arrived at the store about 10 minutes early and was told to sit at a random card table in the corner by customer service. When I interviewed with the Operations Manager, he took me to a back conference room to talk.

The Operations Manager told me that the Store Manager was off today, but she was making a special trip to interview me. I saw her walk into the store (from her big picture beside the checkout lanes) and go to the back. She walked in right at 12 PM, the interview time. I assumed that she had to run to the back to get paperwork or something, no big deal. It then took her 15 minutes to make it back up front. VERY unprofessional. She then came and sat down at the card table and I was starting to stand up, and she said, "No, we're interviewing here." So, we actually had the full interview right beside customer service, beside the bathrooms, with a ton of people coming and going and customer service associates just staring at us. VERY uncomfortable and unprofessional. The store manager was very off-putting and not very friendly. She barked out the questions non-stop but didn't really have any replies when I asked a question. Her interview lasted about 15 minutes.

I then asked when I would know either way about the job, and she said by Wednesday of this week (this was on Monday), if not sooner. I even got an e-mail from the Ops Manager that said the same thing. Fast forward to today (Thursday), and I still haven't heard. I hate companies that want you to start yesterday but can't tell you what's going on. EITHER WAY. I sent an e-mail to the store around 2 PM today and haven't heard back. I checked my job status on the job portal page this morning, and it said "under review." An hour or so after my e-mail to them (I was very nice), it now says "no longer under consideration."

What a WASTE! It's not the fact that I didn't get the job; I just didn't like the way they led me on like I was the sure thing and then didn't contact me to tell me I didn't get it.
