Ios Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

I was contacted by a recruiter through LinkedIn and scheduled the initial technical phone screen.

The interview was a "Peer interview," meaning you and the interviewer would work together solving a problem. This was not really the case; I still had to do all the work, and the interviewer just helped me write test cases.

The engineer asked me to implement three methods of a class in Swift and be able to compile and run the code through Coderpad.

I was finished after 40 minutes, then he asked me to implement another three follow-up methods.

I was in the middle of the fifth method when the time was up, and he thanked me for my time.

I asked him if he was expecting all six methods to be completed, and he said yes, so that made me realize I didn't make it.

I guess if you're applying for the same position, you have to write code ASAP and make it compile. Otherwise, you won't have enough time and you'll get rejected, which seems kind of unfair to me.

Questions
