The recruiter reached out, and I had a phone screen followed by an onsite interview. The onsite interview consisted of 7-8 individual interviews, where I had to write code on a real computer. There was a separate open section for interviews, making the place a bit noisy. The questions themselves were not difficult, though some answers I provided the interviewer couldn't understand, which felt like a red flag.
Note: If you are highly skilled and believe you can crack the interview at a larger company, don't waste too much time on Square. Their compensation is very low, and they do not adjust it. I also didn't feel that there were many exceptionally smart people; most engineers seemed average. Specifically, if you are considering joining the Caviar team, they seem to have low priority towards Caviar hiring. Consequently, they don't increase or match counteroffers. Therefore, I suggest treating the interview primarily as practice and moving on.
My offer was $50,000 lower than others.
