Cons: Executive vision can feel flip-floppy. The company hasn't kept up with market compensation rates. Square only has half of a CEO.

Pros: Square is growing tremendously as a team and a company. It's an exciting, dynamic place to work with tons of interesting problems to solve. The people are top-notch, and it's impossible not to learn while working with such talented people across many disciplines. The culture is super open, transparent, and collaborative. It's really easy to reach across what would at other companies be barriers to get things done. The food is also amazing, which doesn't hurt!

Cons: The fast growth and dynamism can sometimes feel like churn. There's so much going on; it's sometimes hard to keep track of all the projects that are being worked on.

Pros: Great work-life balance. Good pay. Good benefits. Nice mission (if we actually paid attention to it).

Cons: - The company had a soul; it's lost now. - Reorg after reorg, but only in the lower levels. - As the title says, "leadership principled" managers are here now. Incompetent people that can't write a freaking test stay because they play the politics game. The more vocal, passionate engineers are rated below expectations because those FAANG managers have an ego. - The company moves like a handicapped turtle, so the competition is eating our lunch. - Sometimes the focus is music, sometimes the focus is crypto, and sometimes it's AI. Square and Cash App lag behind while those others get sorted out.
