I was contacted on the next working day about scheduling a phone interview.
The phone interview included pretty simple programming/data structure questions and a puzzle.
I was invited onsite soon after.
The onsite interview process consisted of 3 interviews:
The interview went pretty well, but for one puzzle that the senior asked.
I received a thank you email a week later.
Based on a project I had listed on my resume, I was asked the following questions:
Puzzle 1: Given 8 coins, and the fact that one of the coins is heavier than the others, how many times (minimum) do you need to use a beam balance to figure out which is the anomalous coin?
After I answered this, the interviewer made it a little tougher.
Puzzle 2: Given 9 coins and one anomalous coin (maybe heavier or lighter), figure out which coin it is and whether it is heavier or lighter. What is the minimum number of comparisons?
This puzzle took me a while to answer.
