Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York
Process
In general, the interview process was smooth. The experienced interviewers were nice, patient, polite, and helpful. However, other interviewers, who had less experience, seemed aggressive and impatient. They appeared to have learned a few things recently and would do everything to show their knowledge and smartness by catching small errors. If I were given the opportunity to work with them, I would have second thoughts.

Bloomberg LP Work Experiences
- 4.0Takes some getting used to, but worth it in the endSenior Software Engineer • Current EmployeeNew York, New York, United StatesAugust 2, 2014Pros: This is a real meritocracy where your hard work will translate into opportunity. The company is financially and structurally stable, so you aren't distracted by quarterly shareholder meetings and pointless reorganizations.Cons: Many in the management hierarchy have never worked elsewhere in tech. This leads to a bit of a one-dimensional outlook on how things should be done, how employees should be treated, and how they should behave. Also, there is a tendency to under-react to accomplishments and over-react to mistakes.
- 5.0Good culture, work-life balanceSenior Software Engineer • Current EmployeeNew York, New York, United StatesMay 9, 2022Pros: Good management and work culture.Cons: Not a competitive salary when compared to others.
- 5.0Great place to get a broad spectrum of experienceSenior Software Engineer • Former EmployeeNew York, New York, United StatesMay 23, 2017Pros: Great Salary Excellent mobility from one dept to another Management opportunities NYCCons: Due to the tribal/social culture of Bloomberg, all of the magic happens in NYC. If you're in one of the satellite offices, they are, unfortunately, satellite offices.
