Process
A recruiter contacted me and put my CV forward for a software engineer role.
I completed a telephone interview, which went well.
Subsequently, I was invited for a second-stage interview at the Bloomberg office.
During this 3-hour session, I solved technical problems in C and C++ programming.
Questions
A simple class with different constructors.
A simple main program creates several objects of this class, and I had to print which constructor was invoked on each line of code in the main program.

Great place to work in the right area

Pros: I work in a great area.
I have a lot of room for personal development and am actively encouraged to grow.
There are leadership opportunities that are regularly made available, but you can stay as an IC if that's what you prefer.
There's a ton of collaboration, and the group works on interesting things.
Cons: There's a lot of emphasis on delivery, to the point where it can be valued over people skills for leadership positions.
An over-emphasis on "impact" from management makes it hard to advocate for KTLO work unless it can be bundled into a project.
Slowing down on work for quality can be used against an IC if the TL does not buy in.
Various parts of ENG are very different culturally. Software infrastructure is generally good.

Great job security, interesting work, but lots of legacy code

Pros: Great benefits, high base salary. The AI group has brilliant people.
Cons: If you're on an older team with legacy code in production, you are buried by KTLO. Anywhere from 20-50% of your time is spent maintaining code where nobody on your team knows how it works.

Cons: I don’t think it has too many downsides.
