Awesome company, but the union gets in the way

Pros: Great company, great benefits, decent pay.
Cons: Union. Too many people that should have retired years ago are getting in the way of new employees trying to prove their worth, instead of just sucking up a paycheck. The main reason I was getting laid off was that I was the newest employee and the first to go.

Pros: Great pay, very good benefits, great middle management.
Cons: Too many hours of overtime, and then layoffs about every four years. Not as diversified as the 60s and 70s, leaving personnel with 20 to 27 years out of a job with no retirement just before they hit their milestone to retire. Sending our work to foreign countries.

Benefits are industry-leading.
Work can be rewarding if you are on the right program with the right leadership.
Opportunities exist for people who care.
Diverse workforce (relative to aerospace average).
Cons: Bureaucratic and slow.
Pay can stagnate if you don't have a good manager.
Some colleagues are very stuck in their ways and resistant to even simple change.
