Pros
  1. Interesting projects to work on (everyone enjoys designing the next commercial airplane at least a little).
  2. Vast resources available to help with your work (BCA has a group for just about everything).
  3. Excellent pay and benefits compared to market competitors.
Cons
  1. The workplace culture at BCA in Everett can be extremely difficult and stressful to work in. Both the management and general rank and file play a role in this, but it's not clear if toxic management gave rise to the toxic environment amongst the general rank and file or vice versa. Either way, the current environment is very doublespeak-heavy, poor on specifics about why the company is doing certain things, generally resistant to change, and focused on what you're behind on instead of any consistent recognition for jobs well done.

  2. Good pay and benefits might not be worth it given the stress you need to endure to obtain them.

Advice to Management

Stop emphasizing things like detailed metrics and small efficiency gains over people's stress levels and fostering quality teamwork. As long as the workers are stressed out and burnt-out, asking them to focus on more efficient methods will never work out.
