Pros

They used to pay for education, plus offer education.

Cons

If you are older, they can lay you off because your salary is high and replace you with a (younger) lower-salaried person. It's not called age discrimination.

Advice to Management

When you say it's time to "prune the branches," we know what you really mean. My manager said this just before I got my WARN notice, and I filed a complaint. HR said that they "took care of the situation." I left, he stayed...
