Process

I attended three stages of interviews: Online Coding, System Design, and Cultural Fit. All of them were comprehensive and challenging.

Initially, a recruiter contacted me online. This call was about introductions, the job, and my education and work experiences.

During the first 15-20 minutes of the coding interview, the interviewers asked questions about data structures. After this part, I was given a coding problem. It was a hard-level question. I think candidates need about 10 minutes to think and design a solution in their minds. While talking and answering questions, coding it felt too hard.

The system design interview went well. The duration was 90 minutes. Candidates should discuss functional and non-functional requirements, estimations, tradeoffs, bottlenecks, database design, API design, database selection, and draw the design.

The cultural fit interview was also tiring. The duration was 60 minutes. I was asked 12 questions in one hour. The first part consisted of questions about behavior and career.

The second part was about Booking, such as how Booking makes money and what Booking's business model is (agency vs. merchant).

Questions

My coding question was to write a function that takes an integer and converts it into English words.

Exp: Input: 1234 Output: One thousand two hundred thirty four.
