I applied by solving their problem set on HackerRank. The recruiter contacted me within a week. We scheduled a phone call. She missed the scheduled time, but it wasn't too much of a pain as our conversation was interesting, and I received a good amount of useful information.
We then scheduled an interview with their developers. Even after proposing a list of possible time slots (I picked several), they scheduled this interview for a different time slot.
This technical screen was one of the worst in my life. There was no introduction; they simply pasted a simple problem statement into the coding area and denied any discussion around the problem. I didn't get the feeling they were interested in any discussion, which made the screening more meaningless, especially since I had already solved much more interesting problems in their HR problem set.
I finished an almost naive solution first, then changed it to an optimized one, with a few small bugs (which I discovered later, a few minutes after finishing).
The interview was scheduled for 45 minutes, but after 25 minutes, one of the interviewers started to "finish" the interview. Honestly, I agree that it's fine to stop an interview earlier, but I don't believe I was so terrible.
As a cherry on this "cake," here's the answer I received during the session for my questions to them, from the same interviewer who was in a rush.
My question: "What do you do with 'bad' code? How are you improving the quality of your products?" Answer: "We run bad code in production."
I know what "troll" means, but doing it on an interview with someone outside of your company?
We have two words. We need to determine if the second word contains a substring with an anagram of the first word.
