Process

I really enjoyed Brex's interview process. There are three sessions for the onsite interview:

  • Coding
  • Design
  • Values

The coding problem was very practical. It was not algorithm-based like many other engineering companies. Instead, I was required to build a small backend service on the spot. For the design and architecture problem, I walked through proposals and trade-offs on how to build a system pertaining to their question. And then there was a values interview where I talked more about my work experiences. My interviewers were friendly and engaging throughout the interviews. Overall, I appreciate the company for putting a lot of thought into designing their interview questions. I think the responses they receive are good indicators of whether an engineer can perform their day-to-day job.

The recruiter was very quick, responsive, and helpful throughout the process. The recruiter was able to set up a few meetings for me to meet some internal employees, which was really helpful for me to get a better insight into the company before deciding to join.
