Process

Applied Online

Recruiter called with initial basic questions on salary, experience, location constraints, etc.

Next step was the online test. Anyone can answer/pass the two tests as long as you take them without any distractions and with full focus.

After the test was done, the recruiter called again and set up a telephonic interview with the hiring manager.

Basically, he asked about my previous experience and explained the roles and responsibilities for this position.

Nothing tricky in this interview. Though he asked about my expertise in the technical areas he was interested in, he did not ask any specific technical questions or syntax.

After a couple of days, the recruiter called again to set up an onsite interview. They professionally arranged all the travel plans smoothly.

Attended the interview in the Virginia office, which had more of a university atmosphere. Very nice.

Four interviews, one after the other, by four individuals: 2 behavioral interviews and 2 job fit interviews.

All the questions, behavioral and job fit, were to give examples from previous projects for different situations:

  • When your solution to a problem was different from what the majority of the team suggested.
  • When your approach was different from your manager's.
  • When you convinced your manager to change his approach.
  • A complex problem you faced and your solution.

I thought I did all four interviews correctly, though I felt one older gentleman was not very happy.

The recruiter called a couple of times later that week to ask for clarifications based on my resume (one interviewer thought I was a consultant, but the resume didn't clearly state that), which I explained and she replied positively.

After a week, the recruiter called to say that the final decision was negative. She said the reason was that one of the interviewers thought I was 'disrespectful' during the interview process. I'm not sure that's the true reason or not. She said that for a question that particular interviewer asked, my answer was, "I told you already, you want me to repeat?" which I don't believe I said (at least I didn't mean to say that).

So this is my experience. I thought I'd write the details in case someone wants to be more careful. All the best.

Questions

There was none in particular. I had examples for all scenarios they asked for.
