Bait and Switch.
I interviewed for Senior Manager Technology, which is equivalent to a Tech Lead position in non-banking firms. I had one 45-minute phone screen followed by a technical assessment, which could be completed in 72 hours.
Why would you send a basic technical assessment to someone with 15+ years of experience?
I cleared both and was invited to an onsite interview. The onsite interview consisted of 2 technical, 2 behavioral, and one case interview.
I performed well in all 5 interviews. The recruiter called me after 2 days and offered me the "Manager of Technology" position.
This is a typical bait and switch: interview for one position but offer another. I declined.
No professional company should interview someone for a role and offer them a lower role. Either hire the person or don't. If they felt I wasn't good enough, they wouldn't have offered me a job in the first place.
