Process

Online Coding Test, followed by a four-round Power Day:

  • Case Study and Debugging
  • Architecture and System Design
  • Behavioral
  • LeetCode Algorithms

I felt pretty good about everything, apart from the algorithm problems. I didn't run any code in the HackerRank coding pair and couldn't use my preferred language as it wasn't supported. The problem could have been easily solved with regex, but you can't look anything up. The interviewer for that round was also very poor; they were silent the entire time and not interactive, seeming unengaged. You have to be lucky with the interviewers.

It's also very exhausting. Please consider splitting it over multiple days. Not everyone can take 4-5 hours out of work for straight interviews.

Questions

Design an application that handles smart meter readings for an apartment building, with the users being tenants and managers.

Return if a given string, such as “3shrhe??4??s?des6”, has a pair of numbers split by exactly three question marks that add up to 10.

Case study: Explain the pros and cons of Capital One acquiring an online bank, from both a business and tech perspective.

Debug nested if-else statements and reduce them to an easy solution.

Tell me about a time behavioral questions.

Make a custom quicksort and logical string manipulation problem on HackerRank.
