The interview process involved the following stages:
I'll start by saying that the recruiters were great and very responsive. The tech interviews were extremely unstructured. I was asked to open a text editor on my local machine and share that screen. The interviewer then copied and pasted questions into the Zoom chat.
I was asked to write a program that does API calls but was not given the API specs. I was also not allowed to search for syntax. Overall, I found the format of the tech rounds to be very weird, and ultimately, it made the entire process a waste of time for me.
I have facilitated tech interviews before, and this was absolutely not standard protocol for a technical interview. I encourage Capital One to fix this part of the process for future candidates. I did enjoy the case study section of the interview, but I already had an idea that I would not receive an offer after my experience in the first technical round.
Modify the streaming function in the case study to look back over a longer time period.
