I was invited to the assessment centre after completing a Hackerrank and recording video interviews. The group work and discussion of previous internships went well, and everyone was very friendly. However, when it came to the technical interview, I was given a very trivial problem. I outlined my thinking on pen and paper, trying to engage with the interviewer. Capital One highlights its "pair programming" assessment, so I was vocal and attempted to bounce ideas off him, but he didn't seem very responsive.
I continued and coded the solution, testing it on edge cases with plenty of time to spare. I finished 15 minutes early and received an email the following week stating I did not pass the interview, specifically citing failure in the programming portion. When I asked for further details, HR ghosted me.
This is not a company I would ever consider applying to again.
