Pros

From a software engineering perspective:

  • All in on cloud, demands all engineers to be proficient in cloud technology. This is very beneficial, even if the engineer decides to change jobs.
  • Demands engineers to take professional certificates. This is great and would look good on a resume.
  • Culture of continuous learning and sharing learnings with others.
  • Benefits are very good (401k match is top-notch, stock sale at discounts).
  • Process and promotion criteria are very transparent.
  • Even though it's a bank, this company uses some of the most cutting-edge technologies on the market, on par with fast-moving startups (AWS, Apache Sparks, Apache Flink, Go, etc.).
  • They don't have many internal tools or frameworks; they use only public open-source technologies. This means most of the skills you learn here are transferable, unlike big tech companies like Google or Microsoft, which use lots of internal tools and frameworks that become obsolete if you leave.
Cons

From a software engineering perspective:

  • No RSU or stock options like traditional tech companies, but that's the only downside.
Advice to Management
