Software Engineer Interview Experience - Seattle, Washington

Process

I applied for a job at February or March, but got a reply at June. I had two video interviews: first is pretty short and easy - couple simple tech questions, no coding. Second - not very hard coding session. Both interviewers were friendly. Then I was invited to onsite interview in their office in Seattle. The office itself is small; I can't believe it can contain 100 people. There were 5 interviews scheduled: 4 of them are coding sessions and 1 is general conversation about experience and soft skills. After 2 interviews, I was waiting for the third one, but nobody appeared in 10 minutes. I came to the coordinator; she said she'll find out what happened. Then she came up to me and said that the interviewer is on vacation, but the next interviewer is available and will come to me in a few minutes. But he didn't come; he appeared exactly as scheduled (so I was alone about 30 minutes). Also, first, he gave me a task which a previous interviewer already gave me (I told him and he gave me another, but it is weird). All the interviewers were positive and friendly except one. He just crossed his arms, sat silently, and looked how I struggled with his question (later I realized I misunderstood his question, and he clearly saw it, but didn't tell me that). In a week after the interview, I asked HR about feedback, and she said that the company is preparing an offer for me. In a couple of days, I received a letter from the CTO that they want me to join their team, and we scheduled a call to discuss an offer. I was very excited because the job seemed very interesting and challenging. I spent hours looking for daycare for my kids; I've read almost all the articles of the company's blog. Then I had a phone conversation with the CTO. Unfortunately, there was a bad connection; I didn't hear the person well and misunderstood a couple of questions he asked me. I was very flexible about the start date and didn't worry about money much, so we didn't discuss these questions. So the person said that the office will send me an offer letter in 2 days. In 5 days, I received a letter from HR that 'they appreciate my enthusiasm, but decided to move forward with other candidates.' What?! I was very upset. I thought it was a mistake, so I replied and asked what happened. Nobody answered. I repeated my question in a week. Nobody answered. I wrote the CTO, but he didn't answer as well. I spent a lot of time on their interviews, on calls to daycare when I thought I received an offer, and they can't even reply to my message. I think it is very poor working etiquette.
