Software Engineer Interview Experience - San Francisco, California

Process

Phone screen with Hiring Manager, then a technical screen with some SWE at the company.

The phone screen was great, but then the technical screen was terrible. My interviewer was working from home, so he seemed like he was checked out of the interview the whole time, except for the last 5 minutes of the screen when I was stuck on one of the test cases.

His phone rang twice during the interview, which was so distracting. All he said was "mhm" the entire time. The technical screen did not seem engaging or collaborative at all. Based on the questions I asked my interviewer at the end, the frat-boy culture was not appealing to me at all. I was disappointed in the interview and interviewer. Checkr did not seem like a good fit for me, and based on me not getting an onsite, the feelings were mutual.
