I had a phone screen with a technical recruiter who made the role sound quite technical, as all the questions were technical. They asked a lot about what I've built and worked on in the past. There were no questions about how I manage a team, build trust, or rapport. I received no helpful information on what they were looking for.
The next phase was with the hiring manager, who described the role as more of a director-level position. They emphasized setting the strategic direction for the team, in addition to the team being co-managed. There was no explanation on how they expected that dynamic to work with overlapping responsibilities. It felt as though I was interviewing for their position. Ultimately, it was something I was completely unprepared for and a complete waste of everyone's time.
