Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

The recruiter screen, phone interview, and onsite interview all went fine. I thought highly of the company at this point; the team was super nice.

Then it took a couple of weeks for the recruiter to come back with extremely low offer numbers. They asked me what I thought about the offer, and I stated that I made significantly more than that even at my first job out of college. The recruiter said they would get back to me and sync with the hiring manager for a more competitive offer. They also didn't know which team I would be placed on.

A week passed, and I didn't hear anything. At that point, I had already received offers from legitimate tech companies that offered double the compensation they were giving me. I would maybe wait a couple of months for them to iron out their candidate process and leveling system. Some of my interviewers were contractors, so I wonder if they pay below market because they are trying to cut corners.

Questions

The onsite interview includes an interview with a PM that's mostly behavioral. Other than that, it's pretty standard stuff.
