Process
During a layoff years past, I received a phone call from a group that wasn't affected.
They asked if I was still interested in a group I had inquired about years prior. I talked to the hiring manager for a long time and got the job.
Typically, the initial hiring process involves at least six 1:1 interviews and a tech panel interview for an SE position.
In inside sales, we had a tech panel of 3-4 people screen each person for the more junior roles, and that was it.

Pros: The amount of information available internally to facilitate personal growth as a network engineer is amazing. Cisco will foot the bill , provide resources internally for training, and recognition for for CCIE certification. Additionally, you'll have the advantage of being able to work with some of the best engineers in networking within the entire industry and you'll be challenged to excel. There aren't many opportunities in the entire country similar to working here.
Cons: The cost cutting and process-oriented overhead have perhaps gotten a little too extreme, and there's a bit of confusion as to which direction the company is headed. Small perks such as sodas in the break room and home internet connection being paid for really gave a sense that the company still had a bit of its startup flair. I think the dismantling of those programs, while adding additional time-consuming processes, has had a detrimental effect on Cisco culture.

Pros: Large company benefits.
You have good choices for benefits and stock options.
Flexibility in schedule and some really great people work there.
Cons: Cost cutting is the primary focus. Once you're in, growth is hard. I was a high performer year after year with no growth opportunities. I completely changed orgs, still had the same high performance but no opportunities to grow. So much cost cutting means the culture isn't the same as it used to be. It was a great company...
