Software QA Interview Experience - United States

Process

The process involved a phone call and coding exercises in Google Docs. It took roughly 1 hour.

First, I was asked a few questions about Java and basic coding concepts usually learned in the first year of college.

Then, there were two simple coding exercises in Google Docs. I forgot one, but the other is described in the "most difficult or unexpected question" section.

Later, the interviewer explained he was testing my thought process during the coding practices. He mentioned that interview experiences will vary significantly, as different interviewers test different aspects. He emphasized personality type over raw knowledge, as long as minimum requirements are met.

Questions

Not too hard, but write a short program to determine if a number is divisible by 5.

He asked for you to talk him through your thought process, and would hint at corner cases if you missed something.
