Good work generally goes unrecognized unless you make efforts to promote yourself.
Hikes and promotions are few and far between. Layoffs generally happen during hike/appraisal periods. This may be done deliberately.
Frequent org-level changes keep one guessing if their team will be fired.
Sales can't make up for deficiencies in engineering.
It is going to be downhill if talented engineers are not well taken care of.
